Super Breakfast Smoothie Recipes

Posted on
We’re BIG smoothie fans here at Bohemian Mama. Packed with flavor, vitamins and nutrients, a delicious smoothie is a great way to start your day right. As well as being quick and simple to make they’re also a easy way to get a daily dose of fruit and vegetables into the whole family. And unlike juicing, which removes the pulp of the fruit, smoothies retain all the goodness and fiber within. Here are three of our favorite super breakfast smoothie recipes.
  1. Raspberry, banana and pink grapefruit smoothie
This perfectly pink smoothie smells great and tastes delicious too! This super start to your day is jam-packed with body boosting antioxidants and vitamin C. For a subtle change in flavor, try experimenting with different types of honey, such as blossom, Manuka or acacia. You’ll need:
  • 2 bananas, peeled
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon thick honey
  • 2 1/2 cups pink grapefruit juice
Roughly chop the bananas and place in the blender, add the raspberries, honey and half the pink grapefruit juice. Blend until smooth. Pour into a jug and add the rest of the pink grapefruit juice. Cover and chill for five minutes. Stir and pour into glasses to serve.
  1. Kiwifruit, ginger and lemon smoothie
This zingy green smoothie is an eclectic mix of flavors and textures. Nutrient-rich kiwifruit delivers an instant health boost, whilst the cooling lemon sorbet makes this a great smoothie for warm summer mornings. You’ll need:
  • 4 kiwifruit, peeled and thickly sliced
  • 2/3 cup of chilled water
  • 4 tablespoons ginger and lemongrass cordial
  • 1 cup lemon sorbet
Blend all the ingredients together until smooth. Serve immediately in tall glasses.
  1. Blueberry, banana and broccoli smoothie
Don’t be put off by the name, this power packed smoothie is super filling and a great way of getting raw vegetables into fussy kids! Blueberries and banana ensure a sweet after taste. You’ll need:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 banana, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup broccoli
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins (or any other dried fruit)
Add the water, milk, oats and raisins and blend until smooth. Add the broccoli and blend until smooth. Finally, add the blueberries and banana slices, blend until smooth and serve.
